Usually the Ishtalinga is made of Kanti/kanti. This kanti is made according to ancient methods using several basic materials, hence Ishtalinga is also known as Kantilinga.
Usually two types of Ishtalinga are there. One is The Ishtalinga of keeping in boxes. Another one is Kondilinga the Ishtalinga of Sajja / Nogos model.
1. ISHTALINGA
The Ishtalinga of keeping in box.
This type of Ishtalinga is made from original Kanti/Kanthe. It is prepared according to the ancient method of making Kanti and tradition of Sanatan Veerashaiva Lingayat culture. There are boxes (silver, wooden and gold boxes) of various sizes ranging from 1 tola (10 g) to 12 tola (120 g) for wearing such Ishtalingams.
Similarly, common devotees who worship by wearing the Ishtalinga worship the traditional Ishtalinga made by placing Panchasutra Peethaka. And practitioners/achievers practicing Yoga like Dhyana, Shivayoga, Tratakayoga, Drishtiyoga etc. worship special Ishtalinga/Scientific Ishtalingas made using Chandrakanthashile, Suryakantashile, and Kanthashile respectively along with Panchasutra Peethaka.

TRADITIONAL ISHTALINGA
This Ishtalinga is usually worn by common people for Linga Puja. Panchasutra Peethaka is placed in it and prepared along with original Kanti. Prepares this Kanti according to the ancient method.
This Ishtalinga has manufactured based on ancient Ishtalinga making culture.
Ingredients: Panchasutra Peethaka, Chandras, Patrilac, Resin (Rala), Ruma Mastik, Aragu, Geru oil (Ballataka / Semecarpus), Bhasma (Cow dung ash), Ghee Carbon (Ghee lamp’s Black / Kaadige), Camphor Carbon (Camphor lamp’s Black / Kaadige) and etc.
These Ishtalingas are useful for yoga practices like meditation, shiva yoga, trataka yoga, drishti yoga and etc.
These are made based on ancient Ishtalinga making culture using original Kanti.

These types of Ishtalingas are made for both kids and adults and are very easy to wear. And no boxes are needed to wear them. These have two hooks made of silver wire and are worn with threads. All these are made with ghee kanti and they include all the ancient methods of kanti and Ishtalinga making.
